What you are cutting
Phone scans include the table, a thumb, and a black scanner border. Printers and visa portals still store those pixels. Cropping keeps the page and throws away the noise.

Steps
- If the page is sideways, Rotate PDF first. Cropping a sideways scan keeps the sideways page, only smaller.
- Open Crop PDF and drop the file.
- Use an even margin when every page has the same black edge. Draw a box when only one page has a thumb in the corner.
- Download and zoom to 150%. If a stamp or a page number was clipped, undo with a looser box.
- Then Compress PDF. You just deleted the pixels the encoder was spending bytes on.
One page, not the whole file
Crop is a page box. If page 4 of 12 is the only bad scan, Split PDF page 4, crop that file, then Merge PDF it back into place. Do not crop a tight box onto the other eleven pages.
The new PDF is written in this tab. The original file on your phone is unchanged until you delete it yourself.
