Gmail Says the PDF Is Too Big: Get Under 25MB

Gmail will not send a 40MB scan of a contract. It offers a Drive link instead, which a Peshawar office on a locked-down PC will not open. You want a real attachment.

Three levers, in order

1. Compress

Compress PDF at 0.65–0.75. A 40MB phone-scan packet often becomes 8–12MB. That is enough.

2. Split and send two mails

If it is a book, Split PDF into chapters. Mail 1: pages 1–40. Mail 2: the rest. Write “part 1 of 2” in the subject. This is what courts already do.

3. Flatten photos

Photo-heavy pages: PDF to JPG then JPG to PDF. Ugly but small. Do not do this to a born-digital contract with selectable text.

Outlook and Yahoo

Outlook.com is ~20MB. Yahoo is similar. If the same file must go to three addresses, size for the strictest.

Do not zip a PDF

Gmail still counts the zip toward the cap, and many offices cannot unzip on a phone. A smaller PDF is the fix.
